Teaching
Participation in formal teaching is an important part of scientific scholarship, for graduate students, for post-doctoral fellows, and for faculty. Pradip Rathod has taught undergraduate and graduate classes in the Chemistry Department, including an Introductory Chemistry class for non-majors (Chem 110), an Organic Chemistry class (Chem 239), and a graduate class (Chemical Biology). Essential syllabus material is mixed with real world examples to show how classroom learning connects with true development of our knowledge base. As a member of the larger University of Washington community, Pradip has also taught lectures for the Departments of Global Health, Microbiology, and Biochemistry. Similarly, students in the Chemistry Department take courses throughout the University of Washington campus. Weekly laboratory meetings are another vehicle through which the team members learn to deliver scientific information, field questions, and participate in discussions.
